The Pentagon today announced a contract valued $431 million to Lockheed Martin covering the supply of HIMARS light multiple rocket launchers to satisfy what it calls “urgent need.”
“Lockheed Martin Corp., Grand Prairie, Texas, was awarded a $430.9 million contract for full-rate production of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and support services to satisfy an urgent need to support the Army and various Foreign Military Sales (FMS) partners,” a Pentagon release said.
Work will be completed by December 31, 2025.
The HIMARS has been used extensively in Ukraine against Russia in the ongoing war. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in mid-November that the systems – 38 of which have been delivered – made a “huge difference” and tipped the scales in favor of Kyiv.
