Two Indian Air Force fighters – a Sukhoi Su-30 and a Mirage 2000 – crashed in Madhya Pradesh state’s Morena on Saturday.

The crash happened during a routine training exercise. Both jets had taken off from Gwalior Air Force base, reports say.

The Sukhoi jet reportedly had two pilots while Mirage 2000 had one pilot. Two pilots are said to be safe after they managed to eject.

Search and rescue operations are underway for the third pilot.

The Air Force will investigate whether there was a mid-air collision or not.
