Fire Breaks Out at Latvia Factory of U.S.-Owned Drone Maker
Fire at Edge Autonomy's factory in Latvia @Latvian TV

A drone manufacturing plant of U.S.-owned Edge Autonomy in Latvia was ablaze Tuesday, leaving the factory partially damaged.

Located at Marupe near Riga airport, the two-storey production building has a floor space of 600sqm. Products placed next to the building in an area of 20sqm were on fire around 15:00 on February 7. The burning factory resulted in large plumes of smoke reaching towards the sky.

As per reports, three people were injured.

Edge Autonomy delivers unmanned system technologies to government, commercial and academic clients in almost 70 countries, including Ukraine and NATO allies. It produces long-range unmanned aircraft for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

It was established in 2009 and is owned by California-based Edge Autonomy Holdings, LLC. In 2021, Edge Autonomy posted €8.661 million in turnover and earned €546,356 in profit.
