Leopard 2 A6 tanks and two "Buffalo" armored recovery vehicles arrived with their German-trained crews in Ukraine today.
The German government said 18 Leopard tanks were handed over to Kyiv with ammunition and spare parts.
In a next step, Leopard 1 A5 will be delivered. These are currently being repaired by German industry. The tank repair is financed by Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. The aim is to have the first 25 tanks available by summer, around 80 by the end of the year and to increase to at least 100 Leopard 1 A5s over the course of 2024.
