Turkish Aerospace Industries has offered to establish a manufacturing plant for the ANKA unmanned aerial vehicle in Nigeria.
The news was stated by the Nigerian Ambassador to Ankara, Ismail Yusuf Abba during his interaction with the press as the guest of the Institute for Strategic Thinking (SDE) International School of Diplomacy.
“There is a lot going on in the defense sector between Nigeria and Turkey, and in fact, very recently, Turkish Aerospace Industries offered to establish a factory for ANKA unmanned aerial vehicle in Nigeria. This will be a new milestone.” TurDef quoted Abba as saying.
Nigeria has an extensive list of imported Turkish drones including the Bayraktar TB2 UAV, 30 Delta UAVs produced by Fly Bvlos Teknoloji, SONGAR armed drone made by ASISGUARD etc. Additionally, Nigeria has placed an order for T129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopters to Turkey, while Nigerian Naval Forces has ordered two Offshore Patrol Ships to Dearsan Shipyard.
