Russia’s MAKS airshow will not take place as planned for the first time in the event’s 30-year history, as the organizers confirmed its postponement to 2024.
"Instead of 2023, the International Aviation and Space Salon is scheduled for 2024, and MAKS will also take place in 2025. The venue for the largest events in the aerospace industry of the Eurasian space remains unchanged - the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region," an official statement from MAKS organizers said.
JSC Aviasalon said it will continue to work with current and prospective participants and exhibitors of MAKS, including among foreign companies representing friendly countries.
Russian media reported citing their sources in May that MAKS-2023 could be postponed to 2024 or held in a different format, or canceled entirely and return in 2025.
The biennial MAKS is an international air show held at Zhukovsky International Airport, in Zhukovsky, 40 km southeast of Moscow, Russia.
MAKS exhibition area covers more than 42 hectares. MAKS gathers more than 570,000 participants and guests. Many new Russian aircraft have been unveiled at the show, including the Sukhoi Su-57 and Sukhoi Su-75 Checkmate.
