U.S. OKs Romania’s Request to Purchase Assault Amphibious Vehicles

The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of 16 Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAVs) and related equipment for an estimated cost of $120.5 million.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.

Romania has requested to buy 16 AAVs; Personnel Variant (AAVP-7A1); 3 Assault Amphibious Vehicles, Command Variant (AAVC-7Al); 2Assault Amphibious Vehicles, Recovery Variant (AAVR-7Al); sixteen 50 Cal Machine Guns (Heavy Barrel); five 7.62 mm M240B Machine Guns; and related equipment and support.
