Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda said his country will send NASAMS air defense system launchers to Ukraine next month.
These statements were made during Lithuanian leader’s visit to Kyiv to participate in the third summit of the international Crimean Platform.
“Today in Kyiv I told my dear friend President Zelensky that Lithuania will keep supporting Ukraine until victory. Lithuania will deliver NASAMS launchers to Ukraine next month,” Gitanas Nausėda posted on his official “X” account.
Lithuania bought two NASAMS launchers for Ukraine back in June.
Vilnius has already provided Kyiv with Mi-8 helicopters, L-70 anti-aircraft aircraft with cartridges, M113 armored personnel carriers, millions of artillery pieces, and cartridges with grenades.
The NASAMS system, which has a maximum range of 50km depending on the model used, is particularly valuable for Ukraine as it uses the AIM-120 AMRAAM interceptor missile, which is the same missile used in air-to-air function in Western fighter jets.
