Austal USA has won a modification contract worth $91.5 million to deliver three Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1700 class vessels.

Additionally, this contract incorporates options for an additional nine craft, along with associated support efforts.

LCUs are transported on amphibious assault ships to reach designated areas and are utilized across various military operations to transport vehicles, personnel, and cargo between sea and shore. These connectors possess substantial lifting capabilities and can transport a payload capacity equivalent to that of seven C-17 aircraft.
