Lockheed Martin Joins UK MOD's New Helicopter Project at DSEI

Lockheed Martin has unveiled plans to join UK MOD's New Medium Helicopter (NMH) project, promoting its Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter.

Lockheed Martin's partnership for the Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter in the UK includes plans for extensive collaboration, which will generate job opportunities, export prospects, and technological advancement in the country.

Lockheed Martin anticipates that almost 40% of Black Hawk production and assembly will occur in the UK, supporting around 660 jobs annually from 2025 to 2030.

Additionally, this partnership is expected to create export opportunities worth approximately £470 million for UK partners in sub-systems and components manufacturing over the next decade.

As part of the collaboration, Lockheed Martin has signed an agreement with StandardAero in Gosport to handle aircraft assembly, testing, delivery, maintenance, and integration of UK-specific equipment and systems for Team Black Hawk.

The Black Hawk helicopter will be assembled in the UK to meet the MOD's specific requirements, with StandardAero being selected as partner for this role.

Lockheed Martin is awaiting the formal issuance of the Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) from the MOD, along with its competitors.
