Turkey’s Bayraktar TB3 Armed UAV took off for the first time on Friday as part of its “wheel cutting test,” its manufacturer, Baykar announced.
The Bayraktar TB3, which started taxi trials last week, took off for the first time Friday to perform the 'touch-and-go' movement, known as cutting a wheel. Its first flight is expected soon.
Bayraktar TB2 will have a higher payload capacity than the TB2. Besides, its wings will be foldable in order to save space while on naval platforms. It will also be able to take off/land from short-runway ships such as TCG ANADOLU.
In of sensors, the Bayraktar TB3 will have beyond-line-of-sight communication capability, so it can be controlled from very long distances to perform reconnaissance-surveillance, intelligence and attack missions.
Its features are: 1450 kilogram take-off weight, 24-hour endurance, 6 weapon stations and the ability to operate at high altitude. Its cruising speed is 125 kmph while top speed is 160 kmph.
