Russia’s Kalashnikov Concern is currently subjecting a shortened version of the AK-19 assault rifle to rigorous testing for potential foreign clients, announced Alan Lushnikov, the company's head, during a press conference.
Lushnikov revealed that the development of this variant was initiated for a specific foreign customer, and the company is eagerly anticipating a positive outcome from the ongoing testing phase.
Kalashnikov first presented the new, short-barreled version of the AK-19 assault rifle before the Army conference in August of this year. The AK-19 itself represents an export variation of the AK-12 assault rifle, specifically tailored for the 5.56x45 mm caliber cartridge, which is standard issue in NATO member countries and widely utilized worldwide.
Distinguishing itself from its predecessors, the AK-19 boasts several key improvements including enhanced ergonomics, an ergonomic design for all-day use, and increased accuracy and shot density, positioning it as a formidable option in the global firearms market.
