Diehl Defence Acquires Precision Parts Manufacturer ‘Allweier’

Germany's Diehl Defence officially announced its acquisition of Allweier, a precision parts manufacturer based in Überlingen.

The company said it will take over Allweier on January 1, 2024. The existing business of Allweier will now operate under the umbrella of Diehl Defence as an independent business unit, named "DD Präzisionsteile GmbH & Co KG."

The takeover comes in the wake of insolvency proceedings faced by the Allweier Group, during which Diehl Defence emerged as the selected buyer after a competitive selection process involving multiple applicants. The acquisition is expected to safeguard the employment of approximately 160 individuals currently working for Allweier in Überlingen.

Diehl Defence's expansion strategy is evident in this move, as the acquisition not only secures jobs but also augments production capacity. Moreover, it opens up a new source of supply for Diehl Defence's existing product range. Allweier specializes in the manufacturing of high-precision metal parts catering to various industrial sectors, and these components find applications in several Diehl Defence products, including guided missiles.

The acquisition is the culmination of years of positive collaboration with the municipality and local authorities. Diehl Defence's commitment to the Überlingen location is further underscored by previous strategic measures. In 2021/2022, a new warehouse and logistics building were constructed at Diehl Defence's headquarters in Überlingen. Additionally, in October 2023, the company acquired a plot of land with plans to build a new administration building in the coming years.

Diehl Defence's takeover of Allweier reflects not only a strategic business decision but also underscores its dedication to maintaining and fortifying the Überlingen location. The move aligns with the company's ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and ensure a robust future for its operations.
