Lithuania and the Netherlands have strengthened their defense cooperation by signing an agreement to acquire Thales Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission Compact (GM200 MM/C) radars from Dutch manufacturer Thales Nederland.

The artillery radar system purchased by Lithuania will play a crucial role in enhancing the country's artillery capabilities. Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas emphasized its importance, stating, "This is a vital addition to our current capabilities," highlighting its ability to calculate indirect fire positions swiftly and engage hostile forces effectively.

Beyond radar acquisition, the agreement opens the door for collaborative multi-mission radar maintenance efforts, with potential future involvement of the Lithuanian defense industry. The comprehensive €126.7 million project includes a logistical support package covering technical documentation, training for operators and maintenance personnel, spare parts, instrument kits, and testing equipment. The initial radar systems are scheduled for delivery in 2026.
