Poland and Germany announced the activation of a coalition of armored capabilities for Ukraine on Monday.

An armored coalition is a joint effort between countries to deploy armored military assets for specific missions. In this context, it signifies Poland and Germany combining their armored capabilities to support Ukraine, potentially involving the deployment of tanks or other armored vehicles.

The initiative underscores a joint commitment to bolstering security in Europe and NATO's eastern flank.

Following a meeting between Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Poland, and Boris Pistorius, Minister of Defense of Germany, it was revealed that both countries are assuming responsibility for the rapid reaction forces in Europe. Starting from July, 2,500 Polish soldiers and 2,500 German soldiers will form battle groups for quick deployment, aligning with the strategic compass of the European Union.

The discussions also encompassed broader security cooperation, including assistance to Ukraine, joint procurement of ammunition for the country, and strengthening cooperation within NATO and the European Union.

"We, as Poland and Germany, will activate a coalition of armored capabilities for Ukraine on March 26," emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz. "This coalition, with support from other partners like Great Britain, Sweden, and Italy, stands as a testament to our commitment to Ukraine's security."
