Indian Army and the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) have tested the indigenously designed and developed Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) Weapon System.

The MPATGM underwent multiple field evaluations in various flight configurations, Indian defence ministry confirmed in a statement. The system comprises the MPATGM, Launcher, Target Acquisition System, and Fire Control Unit.

Several missile firing trials have been conducted to meet the operational requirements specified in the General Staff Qualitative Requirements (Infantry, Indian Army). On April 13, 2024, the Warhead Flight Trials were carried out at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Rajasthan.

Additionally, penetration trials of the Tandem Warhead System of MPATGM have been successfully completed, confirming its capability to defeat modern armor-protected Main Battle Tanks. The ATGM system is equipped with day/night and top-attack capabilities, along with a dual-mode seeker functionality that enhances its effectiveness in tank warfare.

The system is now prepared for Final User Evaluation Trials, paving the way for its induction into the Indian Army.
