WB Group, a Polish defense technology company, has unveiled the Warmate 20 long-range drone, capable of operating over hundreds of kilometers.
This announcement was made to "Military" magazine.
The Warmate 20 is the first long-range drone unveiled by a Polish manufacturer with close collaboration with Ukraine.
The drone is equipped with a 20-kilogram warhead, providing strike capability. While precise details such as the drone's exact range and technical specifications remain classified, it is known that the drone can operate over hundreds of kilometers. Powering this advanced system is an internal combustion engine developed in-house by WB Group. Additionally, the company is actively developing variants of the UAV with a jet engine, expanding its versatility and operational range.
The Warmate series, including the Warmate 3, is currently in service with both the Defense Forces of Ukraine and the Polish Army. The latest iterations of Warmate UAVs, like the Warmate 3, boast advanced autonomous capabilities, enabling operations without GPS signals by utilizing computer vision technology for precise target acquisition.
Since the start of 2024, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have released videos showcasing the effectiveness of Warmate drones in combat scenarios. Notably, these videos highlight the destruction of Russian air defense systems and radars using Warmate 3 drones equipped with autonomous homing capabilities in the final stage of their missions.
Moreover, the Polish Army has integrated a variant of the Warmate series, known as the BSP-U UAV, into its Gladius reconnaissance-strike complex. This version features a 5-kilogram warhead and enhances the operational capabilities of Polish defense forces.
