Anduril Industries has announced the Extended Range Sentry Tower (XRST), the latest addition to its autonomous surveillance systems.
XRST is designed to enhance counter intrusion operations with long-range detection capabilities, reducing operator workload by focusing on actionable intelligence.
XRST features a sensor head atop an 80-foot expeditionary tower, enabling detection, classification, and tracking of objects up to 7.5 miles away, with over 5 miles covered autonomously in unobstructed conditions. This system aims to improve situational awareness for border security and protective missions.
The XRST integrates with Anduril’s Lattice software platform and existing Sentry Tower networks, creating a networked system for counter intrusion. Lattice combines real-time data from Anduril’s towers and third-party sources to deliver comprehensive intelligence to operators.
Developed to meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements, XRST uses artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning to reduce the manual workload on agents. Anduril completed a pilot tower in November 2023, which is now operational in Texas, with additional deployments planned.
Anduril’s Sentry systems are the only autonomous surveillance tower systems fielded at scale by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
