EDGE, Fincantieri Formalize MAESTRAL Joint Venture in Abu Dhabi

U.A.E.’s EDGE and Italian Fincantieri have officially launched MAESTRAL, an Abu Dhabi-based shipbuilding joint venture focused on designing and manufacturing naval vessels.

EDGE holds a 51% stake in the venture, which will focus on non-NATO and selected NATO member orders, with a commercial pipeline valued at approximately €30 billion.

Following the signing of the agreement, the U.A.E. Coast Guard Forces announced a significant order for 10 advanced 51-meter Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), valued at €400 million. These P51MR Class OPVs, derived from the proven Saettia Class, feature high modularity, stability in rough seas, low radar signature, and operational flexibility.

The ceremony was attended by key figures including His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and high-ranking officials from both EDGE and Fincantieri.

MAESTRAL will focus on sales, commercial operations, and engineering design.
