The Iveco – Oto Melara Consortium has announced the signing of a contract with the Italian Army for 28 Centauro II armored vehicles.
The contract, signed at the Secretariat of Defence (Segredifesa) Land Armaments Directorate, involves the supply of 28 Centauro II armored vehicles along with a ten-year integrated logistic support package.
This agreement completes the Italian Army's total requirement of 150 Centauro II units.
Key features of the Centauro II include a new power pack that delivers 720 horsepower and an H-drive scheme, characteristic of the 8x8 Centauro family. The vehicle also boasts digital architecture and a next-generation HITFACT turret equipped with a 120mm gun. Advanced Command and Control Communication systems enhance its interoperability.
The Centauro II is designed for national security missions, peacekeeping operations, and various support missions involving the Italian Armed Forces.
