Russian specialists from Red Line have unveiled the high-speed Vogan-9SP combat drone, designed for intercepting enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) through explosive means.
A company spokesman confirmed this information to Russian state media at the 'Technologies of Detecting and Countering UAVs' conference.
The single-use quadcopter boasts speeds of up to 200 km/h and integrates with radar and laser systems for target detection and illumination, the spokesman detailed. Operated via a remote 'go' command, the drone launches from a 45-degree angle holder, autonomously navigating to its target before detonating its payload.
"Its mission is precise interception of hostile UAVs, particularly those with malicious intent," the spokesman noted, emphasizing the drone's role in countering kamikaze-style threats.
Currently undergoing testing, the Vogan-9SP requires operator authorization based on live video feed before engaging enemy UAVs. Future upgrades aim to enhance its speed capabilities beyond 250 km/h, the spokesman disclosed.
The conference, hosted by the RuDrones Unmanned Technology Competence Center and co-organized with the Vektor Research Institute under Rostec's Ruselectronics Holding Company, continues through July 2 in St. Petersburg.
