Thales has today submitted its proposal for New Zealand's Project Alexander - the provision of logistics and support services for the New Zealand Defence Force. As a leader in logistics support services, Thales has global expertise and extensive experience in ensuring the availability and serviceability of mission critical materiel for a variety of defence forces. Thales also offers training and simulation capabilities, as well as support to forces deployed on operations. Thales has committed to ensuring significant local resources are dedicated to Project Alexander, and has already launched an extensive local recruitment program. The company is also dedicated to working with local partners, and as part of this strategy Transfield Services, the infrastructure asset management and maintenance services company, is a key and integral part of the team. "We are very enthusiastic about working with the NZDF to meet their specific requirements," said Chris Jenkins, Thales New Zealand's Chairman. "We have invested significant resources, together with them, in understanding their specific needs and approach, in particular through a series of in-depth collaborative workshops. "We believe that in combination with our partners we have the expertise and experience necessary to supply improved logistics support services to the customer, delivering additional value within the existing budget. "When successful, we also expect to work with other major New Zealand companies in order to deliver these improved services and guarantee cost-effective logistics support". The announcement of the preferred tenderer is expected at the end of November, with transition commencing on the same day.
