A Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100, operated by Gazprom-Avia, crashed near Kolomna, Moscow Region, today at approximately 3 p.m. local time, killing three crew members.

The aircraft was not carrying passengers at the time of the incident; only three crew members, including two pilots and a navigator, were on board. While the crew members lost their lives in the crash, they managed to steer the plane away from residential zones where it collided with a forested area and burst into flames. No casualties were reported on the ground.

The airliner was on a ferry flight from Lukhovitsy's aircraft repair plant to Vnukovo Airport when the crash occurred.

Emergency response teams, including multiple ambulances and fire trucks, have been deployed to the crash site. Helicopters are currently surveying the area from the sky to aid in the ongoing rescue and assessment efforts.

The Sukhoi Superjet involved in the accident was manufactured in 2014 and had been exclusively operated by Gazprom-Avia for the past decade. The Unified Aircraft Corporation (UAC) issued a statement via Telegram confirming the incident and emphasizing their commitment to supporting the investigation.

"Incident involving a 2014-manufactured aircraft, operating under ferry flight conditions without passengers," the UAC statement read. "Our teams are fully cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the accident."

Meanwhile, another variant of the Sukhoi Superjet, equipped with domestically produced systems known as the NEW modification, recently completed a test flight in Zhukovsky and safely landed at Ramenskoye airfield.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, aiming to ascertain the factors contributing to this tragic event.
