Russia's defense conglomerate, Rostec has initiated a training program for foreign engineers in the manufacture and repair of Russian military equipment.
The initiative, unveiled during a recent roundtable, aims to create a unified educational space with partner countries, focusing on the development of specialized engineering talent.
The event, attended by high-level officials from Rostec, top Russian universities, and representatives from partner countries, highlighted the importance of forming a systematic training program for foreign specialists.
Nikolay Volobuyev, Deputy Director General of Rostec, stated, "We are uniting efforts with our partners to achieve technological sovereignty. Engineering and technical personnel are crucial, and to train them, Rostec and leading technical universities in Russia and neighboring countries are creating a unified educational space."
Volobuyev also highlighted efforts to develop a training system that will enable foreign engineers to effectively work with Russian products, particularly in after-sales service, through joint ventures. Key discussion points included selecting and training foreign students.
Agreements were signed with Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Ural Federal University to begin training engineers from countries like Kyrgyzstan, with the first batch of students expected in 2025.
This initiative is part of Rostec's strategy to enhance military-technical cooperation, strengthen ties with friendly nations, and address the recognition of Russian engineering degrees abroad by supporting the creation of a BRICS university ranking to attract top international talent.
