Leonardo DRS, announced it has received a $117 million order for next-generation thermal weapon sights for the U.S. Army under the Family of Weapon Sights.
Leveraging DRS’s uncooled thermal imaging technology, the FWS-I is a standalone, clip-on weapon sight that wirelessly connects to helmet-mounted vision systems, including enhanced night vision goggles and the next-gen integrated visual augmentation system.
It offers rapid target acquisition capabilities day or night, even in degraded environmental conditions, providing strategic and tactical advantages on the battlefield.
Jerry Hathaway, senior vice president and general manager of DRS’s Electro-Optical Infrared Systems, said, “This advanced technology ensures soldiers have the best weapon sights available. We’re proud the U.S. Army trusts us to deliver this vital technology.”
