The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Government of Israel, involving the procurement of Heavy Duty Tank Trailers (HDTT) and related equipment.

The estimated value of the sale is $164.6 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) submitted the required certification to Congress, notifying them of this possible sale today.

The sale includes additional HDTTs that will supplement an earlier case, which was valued at $40.1 million but fell below the congressional notification threshold. The original case provided for HDTTs along with spare parts, tool kits, driver tools, corrosion protection, publications, technical documentation, and logistical support services. The new notification encompasses both the items from the initial case and the additional HDTTs, bringing the total estimated cost to $164.6 million. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.

“The United States is committed to the security of Israel, and it is vital to U.S. national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability. This proposed sale is consistent with those objectives,” the Pentagon said in an official statement.

“The proposed sale will improve Israel’s capability to meet current and future threats in the defense of its borders…The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region,” the statement read.

Leonardo DRS, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, has been identified as the principal contractor for this potential deal.
