Three Russian domestic carriers- IrAero, Aurora Airlines and Smartavia signed letters of intent with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to buy 89 new locally made MS-21, Sj-100 and Tu-214 aircraft during the IX Eastern Economic Forum yesterday.

All these airlines were earlier operating Western-made aircraft and will completely retire these once the new Russian-made passenger carriers are inducted.

UAC and JSC IrAero Airlines signed an agreement of intent for the supply of 21 short-haul SJ-100 aircraft, as well as seven medium-haul MS-21 and nine Tu-214 aircraft.

The document was signed by Deputy General Director of PJSC UAC for Civil Aviation, General Director of PJSC Yakovlev Andrey Boginsky and General Director of IrAero Airlines Yuri Lapin.

The aircraft will be transferred to the airline by 2035. To implement the agreement, it is planned to hold negotiations with the lessor, who will purchase the aircraft for subsequent transfer to the airlines.

"Expansion of the IrAero fleet by means of an import-substituting version of the Superjet, as well as domestic medium-haul aircraft, is a logical development of the successful operating model that has developed in the airline.

Aurora Airlines and PJSC Yakovlev of the UAC signed an agreement of intent to supply five medium-haul MS-21 aircraft and two short-haul SJ-100 aircraft. According to the signed document, the MS-21 and SJ-100 airliners will be delivered by 2035.

This is an additional order to the previously signed one. Aurora Airlines and PJSC Yakovlev have already concluded an agreement for the supply of eight SJ-100 aircraft and an agreement of intent for the supply of ten MS-21.

Yakovlev Company of the UAC and Smartavia Airlines JSC signed an agreement of intent for the supply of 45 MS-21 aircraft as part of the IX Eastern Economic Forum.

The agreement confirms the intention of JSC Smartavia Airlines to acquire 45 MS-21 aircraft on financial lease until 2035.

"Smartavia Airlines has extensive experience in successfully operating foreign medium-haul airliners, which are being replaced by the MS-21. By signing the agreement, we have expanded the pool of future operators of the domestic airliner and once again confirmed the demand for our aircraft after 2030. I am confident that the airline's staff and passengers will highly appreciate the advantages of the newest aircraft," said Andrey Boginsky.
