Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia has been selected to provide its PASEO Joint Fires panoramic sight system for integration on the Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) by Hanwha Defence Australia.

The system will serve as the Redback's primary Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) sensor. This procurement is part of the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) LAND 400 Phase 3 project, which focuses on enhancing the nation's ground combat capabilities.

The PASEO Joint Fires system offers day and night capabilities, integrating sensors designed to function in all weather conditions. It provides 360-degree coverage and features a sectorial scanning capability, critical for operations in challenging environments. Safran's Geonyx inertial navigation system is also incorporated, ensuring reliable positioning in situations where satellite navigation is compromised or unavailable.

Safran has previously supplied its optronic sensor solutions to the Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army, supporting projects such as LAND 17, aimed at improving artillery capabilities, and LAND 300, which equipped soldiers with advanced surveillance and targeting systems. Safran’s MINEO day and night sight has also been integrated into Hanwha's Huntsman vehicles under the LAND 8116 Phase 1 project.
