AERO Vodochody has obtained a type certificate for the L-39NG.T1 trainer aircraft on September 24, as confirmed by the Department of Military Aviation Supervision of the Czech Republic's Ministry of Defence.
This certification validates the aircraft's readiness to train NATO pilots for 4th and 5th generation aircraft.
The L-39NG.T1 is the latest version of the basic L-39NG model, specifically designed for flight training in the Czech Republic and Hungary. Last year, AERO received a type certificate for the L-39.A1 variant, aimed at non-NATO countries. The newly certified T1 variant includes modifications for improved production processes and enhanced avionics, including integration with night vision goggles, to meet modern training requirements.
The T1 version has been customized for customers such as LOM PRAHA and Hungary, focusing on operational enhancements and compliance with production needs.
The certification process began in March 2022 and involved 148 test flights, accumulating 120 flight hours. A total of 246 technical documents and test reports were submitted to demonstrate compliance with safety regulations necessary for certification.
The airworthiness certificate is crucial for the operational deployment of the L-39NG.T1 by LOM PRAHA and other customers. The type certificate allows for the issuance of Certificates of Airworthiness for newly manufactured aircraft, facilitating their registration in the Aviation Register.
Furthermore, the L-39NG.T1 certification is valid for the entire production lifespan of this aircraft type, ensuring compatibility with European Union and NATO systems. In addition to pilot training, the L-39NG is also suitable for light combat and reconnaissance missions.
