Saab and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote industrial cooperation and technology transfer for the ongoing Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) II competition in South Korea.

The MoU was signed during the Korea Army International Defense Industry Exhibition (KADEX).

The agreement demonstrates a commitment from both companies to collaborate if Saab is selected for the AEW&C II program. Saab is proposing its GlobalEye system, which is currently in production.

The collaborative efforts outlined in the MoU involve transforming the Global 6500 business jet into a specialized GlobalEye AEW&C aircraft. This transformation will encompass modifications to the airframe and aerodynamics, system installation, testing, and integration. The agreement also includes a comprehensive training and technical assistance package to develop KAI's capabilities in these areas, ensuring KAI can independently conduct future modifications, maintenance, and repairs of the GlobalEye system.

Should Saab be selected for the AEW&C II program, KAI’s expertise is expected to ensure timely delivery of the AEW&C II aircraft to the Republic of Korea Air Force.
