Iran is preparing to unveil “new military technology” during possible future operations against Israel, according to Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iran’s parliament.
In remarks during an interview with Iranian media on Tuesday, Nikzad was quoted as saying "In the possible next operation, we will introduce new technology," hinting at potential advancements in missile and defense systems.
He sidestepped questions as to whether this new technology is related to nuclear weapons and instead referred to the country’s Strategic Action Law, a key piece of legislation passed by the 11th Parliament which aims to safeguard Iran’s nuclear interests after the U.S pulled out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a mechanism to limit Iran’s nuclear weapons ambition in exchange for security guarantee.
Defense systems test around Iranian nuclear facilities:
Some residents of Esfahan Province in central Iran where the country’s nuclear facilities are located, were startled by loud explosions in the early hours of Tuesday which Authorities have since confirmed were caused by a test of the region's defense systems.
Iran has its own air defense systems supplemented by Russian S-300 and S-400 air defense systems which could have been tested to counter a possible attack by Israeli warplanes.
An article in the Tehran Times says that recent Iranian public opinion favors nuclear weapons as deterrence to contain Israel and the United States.
