The Brazilian Gripen E made its debut in the Latin American military exercise, Cruzex 2024 from November 3 to 15 at Natal Air Base in Rio Grande do Norte.
Featuring over 100 combat aircraft, a key highlight is the debut of the F-39E Gripen in complex operational scenarios.
Developed by Saab, the F-39E Gripen is the most advanced fighter in service in Latin America.It features technologies such as Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar and Infra-Red Search and Track (IRST) passive targeting sensors, along with exceptional maneuverability and advanced electronic warfare capabilities.
According to the Saab report, during the exercise, the Gripen will take part in Composite Air Operations (COMAO), where multiple aircraft with varying objectives work together against a simulated enemy.
This will involve Offensive Counterair (OCA) missions to protect friendly forces and Defensive Counterair (DCA) operations to counter enemy attacks.
CRUZEX 2024 is not just an exercise; it is a powerful showcase of Brazil's expanding defense capabilities and its dedication to enhancing military cooperation on both regional and global levels. With over 2,000 personnel from 16 nations and more than 100 combat aircraft involved, the event highlights Brazil's strategic importance in international defense efforts.
