An Iranian hacker group going by the name, "Handala" has claimed to have infiltrated into the data unit of Israel's Soreq Nuclear Research Center, extracting over 20 GB of classified data.
A statement posted on their Telegram channel says, "In a complex operation, while penetrating the internal network of the safety unit of Soreq Nuclear Research Center, Handala was able to obtain more than 20 GB of top-secret data of this center! In the coming days, you will understand that you should not play with fire! Stay tuned for more information!"
The hackers also posted images from the house of the manager of the Soreq unit stating, "This time we entered your house in a friendly manner and left a letter for you in the third drawer of the kitchen! Read carefully! Next time, we promise not to be so friendly! You know better! Do you remember November 2014 in London?"
In addition, they claimed to have hacked into the "air-gapped network" of Elad Municipality in Israel.
“The municipality is closed today, and visitors are advised not to attend. All main file and database servers, as well as employee systems, have been wiped, resulting in the compromise of over 3TB of confidential data. This includes sensitive information such as the main municipal database, files, identity details, geographic coordinates, contracts, and more. An imminent data leak is anticipated, with all stolen data expected to be publicly released soon,” a social media post by Cyber Feed Digest said.
