L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy, valued at up to $999 million, to provide communications technology for U.S. and coalition forces.

The five-year agreement will see L3Harris supply its Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System Terminals (MIDS JTRS), which are essential software-defined Link 16 communication radios for air, ground, and maritime platforms.

The technology ensures a shared understanding of the battlefield through interoperable communications, situational awareness, and mission-critical data.

Link 16, a vital component of the solution, enables a multi-domain network that enhances communications, command and control, and targeting capabilities for coalition forces globally. L3Harris, which acquired the Link 16 Tactical Data Links product line in January 2023, continues to expand its resilient communication solutions for various platforms, including air, land, and sea, with plans to extend the technology to space-based assets.
