The Hungarian Air Force received two H225M helicopters from Airbus to support special operations forces.
Hungary had placed an order for 16 H225M helicopters, which will be delirvered in two configurations: a transport helicopter and a transport-attack helicopter. The attack version will be equipped with unguided Hydra 70 missiles and Israeli Spike-ER anti-tank missiles, tailored to meet the requirements of Hungary’s special operations forces.
This latest delivery brings the total number of H225M helicopters in Hungary's fleet to 12, with the remaining four units scheduled for delivery in 2025, completing the contract. These new helicopters will replace the aging Mi-8 helicopters, which are currently used for personnel transport, cargo, and medical evacuation missions.
As part of its broader modernization strategy, Hungary has also made other key acquisitions in 2024, including Swedish Gripen fighters and the first KC-390 Millennium aircraft for the Air Force.
