The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to the Netherlands, involving AIM-120D3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related equipment, valued at up to $807 million.
The Netherlands has requested up to 226 AIM-120D3 AMRAAMs, five AMRAAM guidance sections with navigation capabilities, and an AMRAAM Integrated Test Vehicle. Additional items include missile control sections, containers, encryption devices, spare parts, software, classified publications, and engineering support. The deal also includes transportation, studies, and logistics support.
This proposed sale aims to bolster the Netherlands' air defense capabilities, enabling it to counter current and future threats. The all-weather, beyond-visual-range missiles will enhance Dutch and NATO air defense, supporting political stability and economic security in Europe.
RTX Corporation, based in Tucson, Arizona, is the primary contractor for the deal.
