The Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted a precision airstrike in Syria's Dayr az Zawr Province, killing two ISIS operatives, injuring one, and destroying a truckload of weapons.
This operation occurred in an area previously under the control of Syrian regime forces and Russian presence. It forms part of CENTCOM's broader effort to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent attacks on civilians and military personnel, both in the region and globally.
The airstrike follows the December 19 killing of ISIS leader Abu Yusif in another CENTCOM operation. On Monday, U.S. forces reportedly eliminated 12 ISIS fighters during a separate campaign in Syria.
The Pentagon recently revealed that the U.S. troop presence in Syria is approximately 2,000, higher than the previously disclosed figure of 900. According to Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon press secretary, this includes 900 core troops on extended deployments and 1,100 temporary rotational forces meeting additional regional needs.
