Jorge Tamarit Degenhardt, a dual Spanish-German national, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH, the management company for the Eurofighter Typhoon program.
His appointment, decided by the Eurofighter consortium shareholders, marks a transition as part of the organization’s three-year partner company rotation policy.
Jorge joins Eurofighter after two decades with Airbus Defence & Space, where he held multiple international executive roles. Most recently, he served as the Programme Head for Spain within the Eurofighter consortium, overseeing Airbus's contributions. He also led the Airbus C295 India Programme, managing the largest C295 order and establishing India's first private-sector aerospace and defense production system.
Jorge succeeds Giancarlo Mezzanatto, who returns to Leonardo S.p.A. after completing his tenure. Richard Hamilton, Chair of the Eurofighter Supervisory Board, expressed gratitude to Mezzanatto, acknowledging his contributions to the Eurofighter program during his term.
Jorge reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders to maintain the program’s success in securing new orders and delivering capabilities required by air forces for current and future combat scenarios.
Jorge will work alongside a team that includes Andy Kendall (Chief Operating Officer Programmes, BAE Systems), Cristiano Montrucchio (Chief Operating Officer Capabilities Sustainment and Future Enhancement, Leonardo S.p.A), Thomas Reinartz (Chief Financial and Commercial Officer, Airbus Defence & Space), Giammarco Quaglia (Director Business Support), and Stephan Miegel (Transition Director).
