Oshkosh Defense has been awarded a $29.9 million contract modification by the Marine Corps Systems Command to integrate next-generation autonomous technology into the Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires (ROGUE-Fires).

The deliveries are set to begin in 2025.

ROGUE-Fires, designed to enhance the Marine Corps’ sea denial capabilities, is an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) system that supports the rapid deployment of Marine forces. The vehicle leverages the off-road mobility and payload capacity of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), integrated with Oshkosh's vehicle technologies. It can operate in both teleoperated and leader/follower modes, providing a platform capable of carrying various weapon payloads, particularly for Ground-Based Anti-Ship Missile (GBASM) operations.

The integration of autonomous driving technology into ROGUE-Fires offers the Marine Corps increased flexibility, scalability, and resilience. By reducing the need for human drivers in high-risk combat zones, the system improves battlefield lethality, enhancing the U.S. military’s operational effectiveness in the Indo-Pacific Command region, where strategic sea denial is critical.

Oshkosh Defense is working in close collaboration with its ground-based autonomy partner, Forterra, to integrate these next-generation capabilities.
