Sweden has unveiled its largest military support package to Ukraine, valued at SEK 13.5 billion ($1.2 billion), focused on strengthening Ukraine's defense, including long-range missile and drone production.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion, Sweden has provided a total of SEK 61.9 billion ($5.6 billion) in military aid to Ukraine.
The package includes eight components, with the largest portion allocated to the procurement of new military equipment, primarily from Swedish and other European defense industries. Sweden's Defense Materiel Administration will facilitate these procurements to equip Ukraine’s armed forces.
One of the key components is SEK 5.9 billion ($534 million) for new military procurements, which will be sourced from both Swedish and foreign defense industries.
An additional SEK 2.8 billion ($235 million) will be donated to Ukraine through various funds aimed at supporting military procurement and ammunition, including joint initiatives with Denmark. This includes SEK 1 billion ($90.5 million) designated for the production of long-range missiles and drones in Ukraine.
The Swedish Armed Forces will donate materiel valued at SEK 3.3 billion ($300 million), including 146 trucks, 16 Combat Boat 90s, 23 marine weapon stations, 1 million rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 1,500 TOW anti-tank missiles, 200 anti-tank weapons, and CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) protective equipment.
In addition, SEK 180 million ($16.3 million) will be allocated for services through the Swedish Defence Research Agency and Swedish Defence University. This funding will support the development of a Ukrainian defense research agency and provide educational programs for Ukrainian soldiers.
The package also includes SEK 650 million ($59 million) for various training initiatives, such as the Interflex program, aimed at basic soldier training for Ukrainian personnel. SEK 400 million ($36 million) will be directed toward the maintenance of Swedish-donated equipment.
