The Netherlands has signed contracts for the purchase of eight Pilatus PC-7 MKX training aircraft and four flight simulators to replace the aging Pilatus PC-7 fleet.
The PC-7 MKX is an improved and modernized version of the Pilatus PC-7 MkII. The agreements were finalized at Woensdrecht Air Base with the Swiss company Pilatus.
The first contract includes aircraft, simulators, and training aids to create a complete learning environment for elementary military pilot training (EMVO). The second contract covers maintenance for the first five years, involving collaboration between the air force, Command Materiel and IT, and the supplier.
The EMVO, operating since 1988, prepares student pilots for advanced training on the F-35, transport aircraft, and helicopters. The current aircraft will be phased out by 2027.
