Saab will introduce its new Coast Control Radar at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in the United Arab Emirates, showcasing a next-generation, software-defined radar designed for coastal surveillance.
Developed in the UAE, the Coast Control Radar features a phased-array, non-rotating system designed to enhance maritime security by tracking small and fast-moving vessels in complex coastal environments. The system integrates into existing infrastructure, such as buildings, towers, and bridges, providing flexible deployment and up to 360-degree coverage.
According to Saab, the radar system’s modular configuration allows for easy installation and routine software upgrades to maintain detection capabilities.
The radar incorporates military-grade antenna technology for both military and civilian applications, ensuring high performance with minimal maintenance. Saab developed the system at its research and development facility in Abu Dhabi’s Tawazun Industrial Park.
