AeroVironment has introduced the JUMP 20-X, a modular Group 3 VTOL uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) designed for autonomous maritime operations, at the 2025 International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX).
Engineered for shipboard use in contested environments, the JUMP 20-X features a heavy-fuel engine compatible with multiple fuel types, enhancing operational flexibility and simplifying logistics.
With a 13-hour endurance and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) connectivity, it supports long-range surveillance and strike missions.
Its 30-pound modular payload accommodates ISR, SAR, WAS, SIGINT, EW, secure communications, and precision strikes. Built on an open-architecture, STANAG-compliant framework, it seamlessly integrates with military networks and emerging technologies.
AI-powered autonomy ensures hands-free VTOL on moving ships in extreme conditions, while AV’s SPOTR-Edge computer vision enhances real-time situational awareness through automated object detection and tracking.
Shane Hastings, AeroVironment’s VP and GM of Medium UAS, stated: “The JUMP 20-X is a force multiplier, delivering unmatched versatility, efficiency, and reliability. With advanced autonomy, extended endurance, and a modular design, it redefines maritime and expeditionary UAS operations.”
