Quantum Systems will manufacture 400 Vector reconnaissance drones in Ukraine, following a site visit on February 25 by high-level officials to review the company's increased production capabilities.

The visit, led by Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, included Arsen Zhumadilov, Acting Head of the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA), and Oleksandr Potiy, Head of the State Special Communications Service. The delegation examined the rapid progress made at Quantum Systems Ukraine’s facility, which has developed significant manufacturing capacity within a year.

The factory, opened in April 2024 by Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyschin and German Minister of Economy Robert Habeck, currently employs 80 people and plans to increase to 120 workers to meet rising demand. The facility will produce the Vector reconnaissance drones entirely within Ukraine.

“We are proud to have built a fully Ukrainian drone company. We built this company as a private initiative, without joint ventures or guarantees. In under one year we achieved full unit production,” Oleksandr Berezhny,

Managing Director, Quantum Systems Ukraine said.

The Vector reconnaissance drone has a maximum take-off weight of 8.5 kg (18.8 lbs) and can fly for up to 180 minutes. It has a command and control range of over 35 km (21.7 mi) and a flight range of 180 km (111.8 mi) at a cruise speed of 17 m/s, adjustable between 15 m/s and 20 m/s (29-39 kn). Its wingspan measures 2.8 m.

Capable of vertical take-offs and landings (VTOL) in confined spaces, the Vector transmits real-time video to multiple Ground Control Stations via a Mesh IP encrypted data link, ensuring secure communication over 35 km. Its low noise emission makes it suitable for covert surveillance.

The Vector is part of a 2-in-1 system that can convert into the Scorpion™ multicopter without changing the avionics hardware. Both configurations share the same fuselage, ground controller, data link, sensors, and artificial intelligence capabilities.

Equipped with the NVIDIA Jetson Orin AI board, the Vector supports advanced decision-making. The Raptor gimbaled sensor detects, classifies, and tracks objects, sending automated messages and alerts to operators, reducing the need for continuous live video monitoring. The AI system also allows navigation in GNSS-denied environments.
