Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense, Paweł Bejda, met with executives of Viettel in Hanoi on March 25 to discuss potential collaboration in cybersecurity and military communication technologies.

Viettel, one of Vietnam’s largest military telecommunications companies, develops both military and civilian technologies. It ranks among the world’s ten largest telecommunications firms. Discussions focused on cooperation in modern communication systems and cybersecurity.

Last week, Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, acknowledged Viettel’s completion of research and production of high-tech military equipment. The company has been assigned to develop core technologies, including a semiconductor chip factory, which is expected to begin construction in 2025.

In early February, Vietnam's Minister of Defense recognized the efforts of engineers at the Viettel Global Network Operations Center in maintaining telecommunications and information technology services in Vietnam and foreign markets where Viettel operates. The center monitors nearly 100,000 BTS stations and more than 640,000 km of fiber optic cables globally. Each month, approximately 110,000 incidents occur, with 52% automatically detected and resolved by the system.

Later, at the Military Medical Academy, Polish minister Bejda explored Vietnam’s military health services and emphasized collaboration in medical training and personnel exchanges.

At the National Defense University, he met with the rector and faculty to discuss academic partnerships and student exchanges, highlighting the role of military education in strengthening bilateral ties. He concluded his visit at the Polish Embassy, where he engaged with Vietnamese officials, graduates of Polish universities, and the Vietnamese-Polish Friendship Society, discussing education and military-industrial collaboration.
