The U.S. Navy’s MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft and the New Zealand Defence Force’s P-8A Poseidon fleet will undergo maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) at RAAF Base Edinburgh in Australia.
The initiative aligns with Australia’s Defence Industry Development Strategy, supporting Sovereign Defence Industry Priority Number 1—MRO and upgrade of Australian and allied aircraft. The project is expected to inject up to $160 million into the local economy and create 80 skilled jobs in Adelaide, benefiting local businesses and fostering defense industry innovation.
Australia’s aerospace sustainment capabilities will ensure operational readiness of the aircraft. The move enhances interoperability with allied forces, strengthens sovereign defense capabilities, and supports regional security objectives outlined in the National Defence Strategy.
