Lockheed Martin plans to ramp up production of its Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptors to 650 units per year by 2027, following a record-breaking year in 2024 when it produced more than 500 of these air-defense missiles.
The defense contractor has been steadily increasing production to address growing demand. In 2024, PAC-3 MSE production saw a more than 30% increase from 2023 levels. Another 20% increase is planned for 2025 as Lockheed Martin expands operations at its 85,000-square-foot production facility in Camden, Arkansas. The company credits its digital transformation tools, latest manufacturing processes, and expanded workforce for the accelerated output.
The PAC-3 MSE is designed to defend against tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, hypersonic threats, and enemy aircraft.
Lockheed Martin’s latest expansion efforts stem from an October 2024 contract with the U.S. Army, which aims to boost annual PAC-3 MSE production capacity to 650 missiles by the end of 2027. The company is investing in new tooling, testing equipment, and supply chain enhancements to meet the production target.
