Raytheon tested a new variant of its Coyote unmanned aerial system from a helicopter at Nine Mile Training Center, demonstrating a new capability for detecting, identifying, locating, and neutralizing threats on the battlefield.
The Coyote LE SR, part of Raytheon’s launched effects family, can be deployed from air, ground, or sea platforms for missions including reconnaissance, surveillance, electronic warfare, precision strikes, and communications. Unlike previous Coyote models that served as counter-drone systems, this variant features collaborative autonomy, enabling it to link with other sensors and systems for real-time battlefield coordination.
The test marked the first launch of a Coyote system from a helicopter, broadening its operational applications. Raytheon plans further trials of the Coyote LE SR throughout 2025.
