South Korea is promoting its Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) as a candidate for Norway’s long-range precision strike weapon requirement.

On March 26, Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) Minister Seok Jong-geon visited Norway to discuss defense industry cooperation, aiming to strengthen ties between Korea, NATO, and the European Union. The discussions covered expanding Norway’s defense imports from South Korea, particularly the K9 self-propelled howitzer, and improving existing systems.

Minister Seok met with Undersecretary of Defense Andreas Flom to emphasize Chunmoo’s suitability for Norway’s missile procurement program. He also held talks with Øivind Kvalvik, Deputy Director of the Defense Materiel Agency, introducing South Korean air defense and armored vehicle systems identified in Norway’s long-term defense plan.

The visit also included discussions on joint research and development in satellite technology, missiles, and electronic warfare.
