Lockheed Martin has delivered the first TPY-4 radar system to the U.S. Air Force after completing early phase testing, initiating a key stage of the Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DELRR) program.

The delivery marks the beginning of official government testing and coincides with a recently awarded contract under the U.S. Air Force’s broader radar procurement plan. The TPY-4 is intended to replace legacy radar systems and improve U.S. air surveillance and missile defense capabilities.

The TPY-4 radar features a fully digital, software-defined sensor architecture, allowing it to adapt to evolving missions and threats. It is engineered to detect next-generation, harder-to-track threats even in contested electronic environments, and to offer early missile warning at long ranges.

Designed with mobility in mind, the TPY-4 is available in both fixed and highly mobile variants. It can be transported by C-130, C-17, truck, rail, or helicopter, without sacrificing performance.
